United States Equestrian Federation (USEF)

The USEF is the governing body that specifies all rules and regulations for dressage competitions in the United States.

  • USEF Rule Book
  • Dressage Rules - This is a must read for anyone who is competing at dressage shows.  It clarifies what is expected for judged dressage movements, specifies what tack, equipment and apparel is approved/not approved, and describes the guidelines under which recognized shows must operate.

United States Dressage Federation (USDF)

The USDF is dedicated to education, the recognition of achievement and promotion of dressage.  IDS members automatically become a Group (GMO) member of USDF and have access to a wealth of information.

USDF Membership is required to participate in sanctioned shows, with the exception of "Opportunity" classes which do not require USDF membership, but also do not count toward USDF awards.  USDF Participating memberships (not available through the IDS membership) are required to compete for Adequan/USDF Year-End Awards or Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Championships or Breeders' Championship Finals.
